The examinations for the Instructor Rating can be attempted once you have passed all of the examinations for the Commercial Pilot Licence (you do not have to have completed the full CPL flying hours).  As Aptrac is a CAA-approved examination centre, your Instructor exams can be written on site.  The exam is multiple choice and at present consists of two papers

• Applied Meteorology and Applied Navigation
• Principles of Flight and Flight Instruction and Legislation

Once you have passed the examinations, you need to do 20 hours of in-flight "patter" with an instructor as well as briefings in the classroom.

Once you have qualified as an instructor, Aptrac will consider you for employment (conditions apply).
